About Philip Pane
Philip Pane was born and raised on his family's farm in Monroe, Connecticut. He discovered his love for photography when his mother let him use her old Minolta film camera. Continuing photography as a hobby throughout High School with his mother’s Film camera and a handful of point and shoot digital cameras Philip began to hone his eye for photography.
It wasn't until college however, while going for a degree in History, that Philip took a formal class in photography and learned the basics through the Intro to Film Photography Course. During this time Philip's love and understanding of Photography blossomed, and luckily his professor, Brent Blair, would become a mentor to Philip and take him under his wing. In this class he also learned he could connect his two passions history and photography, as photography is one of the best ways to document history and to study it as well.
The next big step for Philip occurred right after taking Intro to Film. He studied abroad for a semester in Europe and was able to use what he learned on a new Canon Rebel in the area of travel photography. After returning from abroad Philip was given the opportunity to TA for the photography class as well as end up teaching a few classes. He also was given a grant to use photo negatives from the second world war to put together an exhibit looking at the life of people, soldier and civilian, in Europe during the war, which he presented his findings on in the fall of 2018. After graduation Philip continued to take pictures and was able to create a job as a freelance photographer shooting real-estate and events, his biggest break in freelance came however when he was hired on to do product photography for ABW Designs. He still hopes to one day work in a job where he can use both his love for photography as well as his love for history.
